Here is My YouTube Video! Cool!

I video taped myself driving. I love being in the car listening to music and it is like a journey. I paired it with a Dixie Chicks song because all of their songs remind me of my dreams.

I was not able to upload my video to MM2.6 so I used Windows Live and it worked well but was just very limited. I obviously added music and text and then I cut the film and added transitions and fades. All of these clips are taken from my blackberry torch and the music is from my itunes. I believe if I could have uploaded my footage to MM2.6 I could have done a lot of cooler things with the video.

Assignment 3: Googles next big thing

Google has been a very successful search engine turned to almost everyones homepage for their internet.

It all started with two students from Stanford University, Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1998. Once the company went public, Eric Schmidt joined and these three have agreed to work together until 2024.

Googles mission statement is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. And with every new inovation google has it keeps its mission statment in mind. Web browsing comprises for 70% of its core business. Some productivity software google has already created is Gmail, Google Docs, and Google +. Some applications are Google Chrome, Picasa a photo editor, and google talk instant messenger. Now the most recent would be the Android operating system and a Google phone that uses it. Google is meeting every standard out there and then some.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google

With the explosion of the phone and operating system there is talk about that is google's next BIG thing to come to the fore fronts. Like anyother inovative company out there, they are always thinking for the future and have multiple projects on their hands.

Some of them are not necessarily big money makers but they are very useful to users every where. These include Google Libraries and Google Art. Some websites to learn more about theses are:
Google Libraries:http://books.google.com/
Google Art:http://www.googleartproject.com/

One of the biggest buzzes of googles projects is a car.
Not just any car though, It is a car that is hands free. So it will drive for you. Although they have many precautions about how it not suppose to take the place of the driver but supplement the driver in driving and making acurate decisions.
They have been test driving these cars that have multiple sensors to monitor the road, the lights, the other cars, the other pedestrians, the road ways, and any other obstacles that might pop in front of the car.

Although this car could be great i feel as though just like everything else that gives any one an inch they will take a foot and this case I believe people will take a mile. In the wrong hands these "computer cars" can be extremely dangerous and I believe could have many malfuntions with many law suites. But I'd say read about it form your own opinion.

Assignment 2: The darkside of Social Networks

Social Networks: Facebook, Myspace, Linked In, etc.
They all connect everyone through the Internet quicker and easier than you would normally. On all of these you have a profile. Your profile is the place where you can put pictures, information, and details about yourself and your life with the option for your friends and everyone else to comment on everything.

With all these options there becomes a lot of room to “creep” on people. Random people can find things on your profile that you did not even know you had on there. There are privacy settings that you can use to keep unwanted people off your profile, but is it enough. There are some very smart people out there that can crack anything on the Internet, what makes people think a flick of a switch these people cannot get through.

Another thing that happens with these social networks is once something is posted it is always forever on the Internet, even if you try to delete it. Every picture, every status, every address, every everything will forever be floating on the Internet for a lot of people to access. Scary huh?

Here are some cases where things went extremely wrong.

Facebook bullying:
Social Networks: Facebook, Myspace, Linked In, etc.
In this article a young girl resorted to plastic surgery after being bullied on facebook. This thirteen year old girl got plastic surgery to correct her nose because she had broken it twice. Her "friends" on facebook teased her to the point that she decided that plastic surgery was the best option.

Facebook Stalkers:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/8502426/Teenage-girl-dead-after-posting-stalker-fears-on-Facebook.html
Within this article it is stated that a teenage girl was found dead 3 days after telling her friends she had a facebook stalker. When she told her friends about this facebook stalker she told them that this person called her and said that he knew everything about her. These facebook stalkers found her and committed murder.

Scary things on myspace:
http://voices.yahoo.com/article/159689/the-danger-myspace-facebook-children-221080.html
In this article, it states all the scary things that can happen on myspace.

These are just some of the many cases of people on the Internet misusing the information naive people put up about themselves.
Some things people should keep off of any of these social networks include:
1.      Personal conversations
2.      Social plans
3.      Linking sites
4.      Company information
5.      Photos of your kids
6.      Your address and/or phone number
7.      Personal financial information
8.      Your password
9.      Password hints
10.  And obviously anything you do want to share with the Whole Wide World. (get it WWW.)

So please people do not put anything you do not want others knowing on facebook, myspace, linkedin, and any other social network. There a lot of scary scary people out there that could do very scary things if we give them the correct information. Another reason to keep things off facebook you do not want any one to see is job security. but that is another subject for another time!
Have a great day!
I still love the pats no matter what happens!

Week 1 Assignment: IPAD

ipad.... so fancy.
The biggest announcement Apple has made since the passing of Steve Jobs was the introduction of textbooks to the ipad through ibooks.
Apple main counter against traditional textbooks are:
1. Paper textbooks are not only expensive but get torn with use
2. Regular textbooks are very heavy

Apple describes on its ipad homepage  (http://www.apple.com/education/ibooks-textbooks/) that since this generation of people that are subject to use textbooks are already submerse and consumed with technology that why not harbor that and raise the bar.

On ibooks, a textbook would cost a maximum of $14.99 a book, however to buy a ipad that price starts at $499.00.

Some feature that are included on ibooks is:
-the ability for publishers to include 3-D pictures and videos for students to watch.
-capability to take margin notes
-high light sections
-flip from page to page with a finger
-search contents
-and find definitions to words
thing list I am sure continues too.

This seems all well and good, now it is just getting the books you need on the ipad.
I personally have a nook tablet and none of the textbooks I need for class are on the nooktextbooks list and I have been having trouble finding the ebooks of any of them too.
Some publishers might not put the books on as ebooks making some textbooks traditional.
The conversion from traditional textbooks to electronic textbooks but it is definitely a big step in bringing our generation and generations to come completely into technology. So I suppose its up to you go do your own research I know my opinion :-)
